Stealth Copywriting Tactics
By Kyle | November 16, 2007
Add my RSS feed to your reader now so you never miss a post.
You might not have noticed them, but they’re out there…
Stealth copywriting tactics are being used by some very smart marketers to persuade you to do pretty much anything they want you to.
I’m talking about a dynamic combination of the latest Web 2.0 technologies with proven direct response techniques. Very powerful.
Soon, when you discover the tactics being used, perhaps you’ll think back and remember the last product you bought and begin to realize that these tactics may have swayed your decision…
Certainly they’ve been used on me with startling effectiveness… even after I knew what they were! I’m still getting my head around the possibilities these tactics open up for both me and my clients.
For example:
Initial tests with one of the tools I’ve been playing with (called the “itrack”) has led to a double-digit increase in conversions on one of my niche sites. I’m now looking to roll it out across the board and expect similar results — It’ll be especially effective on older sites with lagging sales.
I have to thank John Ritskowitz for opening my eyes to a lot of this stuff. He’s one of those smart guys I mentioned earlier. I highly recommend you listen to what he has to say when it comes to copywriting & marketing.
The stuff he’s shared with me is already having an impact on my bottom line (and soon that of my clients) and I’m only just getting started implementing his ideas…

A New Design & 52 Proven Marketing Ideas For You
By Kyle | November 8, 2007
Whipping up a new design for both this blog and my copywriting site resulted in the site you’re looking at now. Let me know what you think.
I’ve also been busy putting together my list of 52 proven marketing ideas you can use to get better results from your advertising…
The first one is an absolute copywriting breakthrough. It’s something I picked up from Jay Abraham then later had drilled into me by Robert Stover & Shaune Clarke — I guarantee it’ll add a whole new dimension to your copy.
I just googled the phrase and only 5 results came up — from 3 different copywriters. 1 of them was me.
Virtually no one is talking about it yet it’s one of the best tactics in your copywriting bag of tricks. (FYI It’s the sentence that’s blanked out on my copywriting site.)

Blog Rush Results - Phase 2
By Kyle | November 4, 2007
It’s been a long time between drinks so what better place to start than where I left off…
Blog Rush has just entered phase two with a whole range of new reports, stricter blog standards and a much improved dashboard.
I haven’t posted in over a month yet already I’m seeing higher click-through rates and a steady stream of traffic. In fact my traffic barely slowed down at all for the entire month I didn’t post. Sweet.
The new dashboard looks fantastic but I have no idea what it all means. As long as the numbers are big and the lines are going up I think I’m doing ok.
After a shaky start I think Blog Rush is going to be a wortwhile widget, at the very least it’s worth a test.

Blog Rush Results
By Kyle | September 20, 2007
It’s early days yet but so far blog rush is looking… interesting.
They’ve finally got the statistics dashboard working so you can login and see pretty colored lines all over the screen. But what does it all mean?
Looking at my web host’s web stats there is no giant “rush” of traffic to my blog. It seems the server didn’t melt down with all the extra traffic, which I suppose is a good thing.
However, since adding the widget I’ve had my 3 biggest traffic days. Nothing mind blowing but a consistent trend upward. Made more impressive by the fact that 2 of those days I didn’t post — which usually results in a lull.
Hopping over to the Blog Rush dashboard tells the rest of the story…
The days I didn”t post show a noticeable drop in my syndication credits. On those same days my referral’s earned me many more credits, resulting in an overall trend upwards. A nice way to fill in the traffic blank spots between posts.
I’ll keep you posted as things develop.

Customer Service - Think Lifetime Value
By Kyle | September 18, 2007
About a week ago a good friend lost 18 months worth of emails. Important contact info, receipts, photos - *poof* - gone without a trace. They just disappeared. An all too common occurrence with Outlook Express, so I’m told.
Of course there were no backups — I’m getting that sorted out now.
Anyway, being the “computer guy” I went on the search for a remedy. Tried a few things without any luck. Eventually figured we were going to have to pony up the cash for some recovery software…
One program looked promising so I thought I’d give it a shot. $50 for 18 months of emails seemed fair enough. I noticed some other programs they were selling — backup software of course — and made a mental note to return once the emails were sorted out.
Except it didn’t work…
The program recovered some emails, ones we didn’t even know were missing — in fact I think they might have been deleted, probably for good reason. It didn’t get a single email from the 18 month period that went missing.
Fair enough, these things happen. I explained the situation to the software vendor and asked for a refund, not too much to ask consider the program didn’t do what it claimed…
They refused. No reason, just a template “your refund request has been declined” email.
Never mind that I was going to purchase another of their products — one more expensive than my original purchase. Or that I’m going to charge-back the transaction anyway.
I explained their short-sighted thinking to them with no response.
Please, always think lifetime value ![]()

Email Isn’t Free
By Kyle | September 1, 2007
I just got off the phone with a friend of mine who’s looking to get into “this Internet marketing thing” and wanted some advice on where to start. He thought email marketing would be good because “it’s free.”
Ah, but it isn’t I told him…
Think about it, what’s your most valuable resource?
If you’re like most people you answered “time.” It’s the one thing you can never get more of. Once it’s gone that’s it, you can never get it back.
It’s the same for your email subscribers… they value their time. Waste it and they’re gone, never to be back.
What’s the lifetime value of your customer? How much did you just lose by sending that email?
Treat every email you send to your list like it’s costing you money. Deliver appropriate value. Otherwise it’s costing you more than you imagine.
